Herbert L. Reed, 83, of Columbus, passed away at 5:03 p.m. Monday, June 10, 2019 at Franklin Meadows. Herbert was born September 10, 1935, in Mt. Carmel, Il., the son of Frank and Grace Baker Reed. On May 23, 1958, he married Dorothy Hulfachor in Princeton, Indiana. Mr. Reed served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged after three years of service. He retired from Arvin Industries. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; sister, Rachel Hurst; brothers-in-law, Donnie (Connie) Hulfachor, Paul Hulfachor; sisters-in-law, Janice Smith, Shirley Spincher, Mary Smith, Katherine Tyree, Jeanie Lemmons Linda Schott; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Noraellen Reed; brother, Hubert Reed; three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law. In keeping with the family’s wishes, cremation will take place and there are no services planned at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
