Harold Elm Shoup Jr., 87, of West Monterey, Parker, Pa., passed away peacefully at his residence with his family by his side early Thursday (6/13/19) morning. Born in Pittsburgh on March 4, 1932, he was the son of the late Harold Elm Sr. and Elizabeth Davis Shoup. Harold proudly served in the Marines from 1952-1954 and was honorably discharged as a Corporal E-3 Maintenance Technician. He was later employed for 30 years with the former Burroughs Machine Corporation in Pittsburgh as a repair technician traveling western Pa. He married Beverly Phyllis Shoup on March 7, 1953 and who preceded him in death on December 13, 2012. A devoted husband and father, Harold enjoyed traveling the country visiting his children and grandchildren. He and his wife often traveled the countryside in their Airstream and was a member of Airstream Owners Club. Harold was a Civil War enthusiast often visiting various battlefields with his family and reading numerous books. He also was a member of the former American Legion in Foxburg Post 636. His supportiveness and devotion to his family is a legacy that will be remembered. He is survived by One son: Gerald “Jerry” (Terry) Shoup of Gibsonia. Two daughters: Kathy (Tom) McKenna of Montana; and Patricia Cotton of California. One Daughter In-Law Suzi Shoup. Seven Grandchildren and Eight Great Grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a Son Lawrence Randy Shoup who passed on September 11, 2017. A gathering of friends and family will honor Harold’s life on Sunday the 16th at the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home in Parker (201 S. Wayne Ave.) from 3-5pm. Interment will take place at the West Monterey Cemetery on Monday at 11pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Foxburg Free Library in his honor.
