Gregory Kim Copeland, 64, of Arkansas City, KS, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at his residence. Greg was born on June 22, 1955, in Arkansas City, KS, the son of John D., Jr. and G. Dolores “Dodi” (Whiteman) Copeland. He graduated from Arkansas City High School with the Class of 1973. He married, Sarah Horton in May of 1977 and to this union, two children were born, Jennifer and Jessica. The couple later divorced. He worked for Viola Industries, Waldeck Fertilizer and farm help for the Smith Brothers. His most recently love and passion was his gunsmithing work and owning his own business CC Pistolsmithing. He took pride in several things in his life, his family, his attention to detail, woodworking, gunsmithing, marksmanship, unique cooking skills and his yard. He also had immense love for his rat terrier dogs, Pooky 1 and Pooky 2. His family includes: his mother, Dodi Copeland of Arkansas City, KS, his daughters, Jennifer Copeland and Bobby Richardson and Jessica and Robby Dorman all of Arkansas City; his brothers, Tim Copeland (Linda) of Lindsborg, KS and Chris Copeland (Gayle) of Geuda Springs, KS; his 3 grandchildren, Danika Copeland, Keagan and Benjamin Dorman and 1 great-grandson, Mekhi Daniels. He was preceded in death by his father. Cremation will take place and the family will have a come and go visitation service on Friday, June 28 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City. A memorial has been established in Greg’s name for the Sporting Friends of Cowley County, Youth Hunter’s Education Course. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
