Giovanni Gabriele January 29, 1941 – June 10, 2019 Giovanni was born on January 29, 1941, in Palermo, Italy, to Carmelo and Rosa [nee Romeo] Gabriele, and passed away peacefully June 10, 2019, surrounded by his family. He came to the United States in 1964 and settled in St Louis. He owned and operated “Giovanni’s on the Hill” since the early seventies. In addition to his restaurant, he enjoyed Italian soccer [especially the Palermo Super Eagles] and traveling the world on cruise ships with his beloved wife. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family, and encouraged them to love life and live for today. Survivors include: his wife of 54 years, Serafina; three children: Carmelo [Maria] Gabriele, Frank [Lisa] Gabriele, and Lisa [Aime] Nicastri; nine grandchildren: Giovanni, Aldo, Sergio, Serafina, Sophia, Vincenzo, Giovanni, Valentina, and Luca; two brothers: Vincenzo [Patricia] and Agostino [Joan]; three sisters: Rosa [Carmelo] Deleo, Concetta Messina, Ina [Pino] Corrao. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother: Rosario Gabriele. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 am Saturday, June 15, 2019, at Incarnate Word Catholic Church, 13416 Olive Blvd, Chesterfield, MO 63017. Entombment at Bellerive Garden’s Mausoleum. Memorial Contributions may be made Evelyn’s House Hospice Facility, 1000 North Mason Road, St. Louis, 63141.
