She was born on November 22, 1921, to Joseph & Julia Gajer Boehm in Hallettsville. She was a member of the Altar Society and Ascension of our Lord Catholic Church of Moravia, TX. Evelyn will be remembered for being a hard worker in all that she did. She loved working in her garden and it brought her great joy to share her vegetables with others. She also loved raising chickens, listening to polka music, driving her Ford truck and watching Wheel of Fortune on television. She took great joy in driving her Ford tractor down the pasture to check her cattle each day. She looked forward to visits from her children, grandchildren and especially her great grandchildren. One could always count on having homemade bread and kolaches when visiting her. Making noodles and rosettes were a labor of love which she enjoyed. She also loved drinking coffee any time of the day, any day of the year. We will all miss hearing her speak Czech, telling stories of the good old days and offering us a dozen of eggs to take home. Evelyn is survived by: son William Barcak & wife Patricia of Rockdale; 2 daughters, Anita Etzler of Hallettsville, and Mildred Ulbig & husband Clinton of Schulenburg; sister Lillian Thurk of Victoria; grandchildren, Gail Zambie, Leroy Etzler Jr., Travis P. Etzler, Rodney Barcak and Chad Barcak; great grandchildren, Jennifer Zambie, Adam Zambie, Madeline Etzler, Lindsay Etzler, Allison Etzler, Haley Etzler, Bret Etzler, Sophia Etzler, Cady Barcak, Brooks Barcak and Jaxson Barcak; and step great grandchildren, Madison Reynolds, Dylan Jones and Dayne Jones. Evelyn was preceded in death by: her parents; grandson Douglas Etzler; great grandson Austyn Barcak; 2 sisters, Rose Marie Boehm and Virginia Etzler; 2 brothers, Henry and Albert Boehm; and son-in-law Leroy Etzler Sr. Funeral Mass Service: 2 pm, Sunday, May 12, 2019, at Ascension of our Lord Catholic Church of Moravia.
