Bechtlofft, 92, of Du Quoin, passed away at 2:45 A.M., Sunday, June 16, 2019 at the Du Quoin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Evelyn had been a cashier for GTE Telephone Company for thirty-five years. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin. Evelyn had been a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was also a member of the Crab Orchard Kennel Club. She showed Toy Poodles, groomed and cared for Poodles, and loved animals. Evelyn enjoyed dancing with her husband. She was born February 26, 1927 at Pinckneyville, IL, the daughter of Walter and Jenny June (Burke) Dippel. She married George E. Bechtlofft on June 19, 1954 at Du Quoin, IL and he preceded her in death on August 30, 2013. She is survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers – Billy Dippel and Thedell Dippel, and one sister – Ernestine Ethington. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, June 20, 2019 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin with Fr. Joseph Oganda officiating. Friends may call from 9 A.M. until the time of service on Thursday at the church. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Du Quoin. Friends may make memorials to the Perry County Humane Society and will be accepted at the funeral home. Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin is in charge of arrangements.
