Ernest Gordon Hughes of Thomasville, Georgia February 19, 1930 – June 25, 2019 Ernest Gordon Hughes, 89, of Thomasville, passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at Archbold Memorial Hosptial. Graveside Services will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery on Saturday, June 29th, 2019 at 10:00 am. Visitation will be held at Whiddon Shiver Funeral Home on Friday, June 28th from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Mr. Hughes was born to the late Count Gordon Hughes & Emma Odom Hughes on February 19, 1930 in Camilla, GA. He married Verdie Bell Hurst Hughes on July 31, 1954 in Mitchell County, GA, who preceded him in death on September 25, 2013. He worked as a Refrigeration Tech for Sunnyland Foods and attended Parkway Church of God. Survivors include: two sons, Virgil Hughes (Donna) of Grovetown, GA, Grant Hughes, Sr. of Thomasville, a daughter, Elaine Chastain of Ochlocknee, GA, 8 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
