Erica’s Obituary Ms. Erica Denise Phillips, age 39, was born June 7, 1979 in Grove Hill, Alabama to the parentage of Mrs. Yvonne Beckham Phillips Bowe and the late Mr. Willie Mays Phillips, Jr.. She departed this life April 26, 2019 in Stapleton, AL. She was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church (Salitpa Community), Jackson, AL where she sang in the choir. Ms. Phillips, educated in the Clarke County School System, was a softball enthusiast and also loved to cook. She enjoyed preparing macaroni and cheese, black eyed peas, baked chicken, baked ham, and was known for her delicious and unique deviled eggs. “Ms. E”, as she was affectionately known, was a supervisor with Sunrise Fresh Produce in Robertsdale, AL. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Willie Mays Phillips, Sr., maternal grandfather, Willie Gray Beckham, Sr., an uncle, Willie Gray Beckham, Jr., and a sister, Devitia D. Phillips. She will be forever loved and cherished by her devoted family, devoted friend, Maurice Taylor of Bay Minette, AL; three sons, Tyler Taylor, Kyle Taylor, Trevor Taylor; one daughter, Takyia Taylor, all of Bay Minette, AL; mother, Yvonne (Gerald) Bowe, Bay Minette, AL; three sisters, Vanessa Phillips of Bay Minette, AL; Kayla Phillips and Marlisha Phillips, both of Nashville, TN; grandmother, Lallie Gray Beckham of Jackson, AL; step-mother, Truscilla Morris Phillips; step-sister, Stephanie Morris, and step-brother, Derrick (Rebekah) Morris, all of Nashville, TN, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncle, cousins, other relatives and friends. Viewing Friday, May 3, 2019, 10am until the 11am service at Good Hope Baptist Church,, 9775 Hwy 69 (Salitpa Community) of Jackson, AL 36545; Rev. Derrick Powell, pastor; Dr. Tony Beckham, eulogist. Following the interment ceremony in the church cemetery, the family will receive friends in the dining hall of the church.
