Mr. Emmitt“Wayne” Hunkeapillar, age 80, of Somerville the Union Hill community passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at Marshall Medical Center North. Mr. Hunkeapillar was born on May 30, 1939 in Marshall County to Emmitt Hunkeapillar & Mary Hazel Fletcher Hunkeapillar. He was a member of New Canaan Baptist Church, Union Hill community and was a retired Deacon. Mr. Hunkeapillar is survived by his wife of 62 years, Hilda Thomas Hunkeapillar; daughters, Donna Ford, Debra Hunkeapillar; grandson, Thomas Wayne Byrum; great grandchildren, Gauge Byrum who Mr. and Mrs. Hunkeapillar raised, Jessi Goostree & Joseph Goostree; brother & sister-in-law, Marlin Hunkeapillar & Judy; sister, June Ratley. Preceded in death by his parents, Emmitt Hunkeapillar & Mary Hazel Fletcher Hunkeapillar; sisters, Mary Ann Moore, Betty Wilson, Virginia Starnes. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2019 at New Canaan, Union Hill community withBro. Eldridge Criscoe & Bro. Robert Cruise, officiating.Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery with Brindlee Mtn. Chapel Funeral Home & Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing. Pallbearers will include; Troy Pritchett, Jeff Pritchett, Brandon Miller, Clay Crawford, David Feemster, Freddie Page. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Brindlee Mtn. Chapel Funeral Home.
