Emma Jean Hunter of Hampton, VA, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 23, 2019, at her home. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Thurman and Eva Brown. She was also preceded in death by brothers: Than and Dean Brown; sisters: Lois Roland and Louise Hughes; and, a grandson: Darrell Hunter, Jr. Surviving are her husband of 63 years: Clarence Hunter; 4 sons: Darrell Hunter and wife, Sally, Alan Hunter, Tom Hunter and wife, Tonya, and Jeff Hunter and wife, Lisa; brothers: Benny and Billy Joe Brown; sisters: Grace Hensley and Eloise Hensley; grandchildren: Eric, Adrian, Luke and Andrea Carothers, Megan Behrns, Austin, Katelyn and Ben; great grandchildren, including Courtney, whom she raised as a daughter; and a host of in-laws, nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly. A viewing will be held from 9 until 11:30AM Sunday, June 30, 2019, at Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 12:30 PM Sunday in the Hunter Cemetery located at 2482 Coxes Creek Road, Burnsville. Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home is assisting the Hunter family.
