Edward Minhondo born March 23, 1933 in Geneva, Idaho passed away peacefully June 25, 2019. Edward was the son of Peter and Jeanne Minhondo. He was married to the love of his life Linda May Nate on September 19, 1959 and was the proud parent of three “lovely/wonderful/perfect” children (pick one). Ed was the son of a sheep herder/ cattle rancher who migrated to the Americas in 1914. In 1926 his father started the Minhondo Ranch where Ed worked hard with his family while attending grade school. Ed’s story always told was that he had to walk 2 miles each way every day to attend school. His children later measured it where it actually was 2 miles. Years later Ed came clean that he may have rode a horse to and from school but Ed’s story today is the one that still stands with us all. Ed attended Regis College which was an all-boys Catholic School in Denver, Colorado (not at all easy to get into). He obtained his degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Colorado (go Buffs). Many evenings and weekends were spent at Tallages Tavern (many stories which were never told). After receiving his degree, Ed was soon after drafted in the army and served his country proudly in the Korean War. Following his return Ed met his wife of 59 years where he shuffled his family from Idaho, to Colorado, to Texas, back to Colorado, back to Texas, and then finally to Utah. After that, the family unanimously refused to move anymore especially given the choice they had was “Wyoming”. In Wyoming, dad started his own engineering company where he worked for many years at the soda ash plants. For several years after that, Ed made many sacrifices for his family, which he adored so much, by traveling outside of the state of Utah and away for many weeks, if not months at a time. After selling his business and retiring, Ed found happiness in traveling for pleasure, playing golf, boating with his family at Bear Lake, and especially watching his grandchildren participate in various sports “everywhere & anywhere”. Aside from his family, the most important thing to Ed was his faith & devotion to the Catholic Church which was admired greatly by his family. Ed is survived by his wife Linda; daughter Patty; sons Mike (Susie) & Bob (Kristin); six grandchildren Chase, Mandy, Mason, Brock, Luke, and Bailee; two great grandchildren Kade & Dax. He was preceded in death by his parents; Sister Mary Jeanne; beloved son-in-law, Kerry Brooks “KB”. Viewing will be held Monday, July 01, 2019 between 6 and 8 PM at Russon Mortuary, 1941 North Main, Farmington, UT. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 02, 2019 at 10:30 AM at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 210 Chapel Street, Layton, UT. Interment will be at Bountiful City Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church. favorite_border Donations Pledges
