Earl Lee Brown, Del Rio, Texas, passed away in San Antonio on June 14 after a brief illness. Earl was born in Midland, Texas on August 20, 1931. Earl was proceeded in death by his parents, Charlie and Viola Brown, brothers Winston (Thelma), Gene (Nell), Charles and sister June Biffle (Leon). Survived by wife Dorothy Brown of 64 years, son Eldon (Michelle) Brown of Del Rio, Texas, daughter Farel Shinn (Bill) of El Paso, Texas, son Kerwin (Kirby) Brown of Overland Park, Kansas and son Adrian (Pam) Brown of Snyder, Texas. Sisters Gearldine Wright, Gorman, Texas, Sue Keese (Dalton) Gorman, Texas and Patsy Kelso (Jerry) Covington, Texas. Grandchildren Stefanie Colquitt (P.K.) of Anthony, New Mexico, Lauren Brown, Studio City, California, Maddie Brown Bellinger (Ricky) Ithaca, New York, Reid Brown (fiancée Lacey Ostmeyer) Omaha, Nebraska, Leanne Sosebel (Steve) Amarillo, Texas, Jennifer Parnell (Roger) Temple, Texas, and Melissa Brown (Jon) Liberty, Texas. Great grandchildren Parker Brown, Studio City, California, Prescott Colquitt IV, Anthony, New Mexico, Alden and Arron Sosebel, Amarillo, Texas, and Andrew Brown, Liberty, Texas. Earl and Dorothy met in Aransas Pass, Texas and married on November 13, 1954. Earl was drafted and served in the Army for three years where the couple spent some time in Germany. Upon his honorable discharge, the couple moved back to Aransas Pass where Earl worked for the United States Postal Service and fixed up and sold cars on the side. He later worked for McCullough Land Sales which took the family to Elko, Nevada. Earl and Dorothy moved back to Texas when they purchased the Western Auto in Del Rio. While in Del Rio he built and ran the Rough Canyon Motel and Grocery. His most enjoyable job was rehabbing houses after he retired from Western Auto. Over the next 20 plus years, he rehabbed 21 homes. Earl and Dorothy enjoyed traveling, together and with friends. Mexico and Egypt were two of their favorite destinations. Earl loved to fish and hunt, being around dogs, eating watermelons and sweets and cooking breakfast. He spent countless hours playing dominos, hand-n-foot, spades and poker with friends and family. Earl’s humor, southern sayings and laugh made everyone feel a little better. In leu of flowers the family asks to make donations to the Gary Sinise Foundation, that honors defenders, veterans, first responders and their families as well as those in need. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 21, 2019 from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. in the Trinity Chapel. A Chapel Service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at the Trinity Chapel at 10 A.M. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery. Funeral arrangement are under the care and direction of Trinity Mortuary, 206 Kings Way, Del Rio, Texas, located in Ceniza Hills.
