Douglas’ Obituary Douglas F. Rusak, age 74, of Portage, passed away Monday, June 24, 2019 at VNA Hospice. He was born on January 12, 1945 to the late George and Leona Rusak. Doug was employed as an Electrician for Cass Electrics in Merrillville. He was a member of the Electrician Union Local 697. Doug was a very talented guitarist and played lead guitar for several bands including the Hitchhikers and Short Circuit. He also taught guitar lessons at the Hobart Harmony House. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Dawn (nee Regenovich) Rusak; nieces, Jackie (Jeff) Lewis, Wendy Androff; nephew, Michael (Patti) Razus; great nephews, Nathan (Kali) Lewis, Matthew Razus, Michael Razus; great niece, Mia Razus; great great nieces, Zoey and Josie Lewis; sister, Kathy Trojan; sister-in-law, Denise Razus. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Steven Rusak in 1975; and brother-in-law, John Trojan. Per Doug’s wishes, there will be no services.
