Doris Loretta Schindler, 92 formerly of Charlestown, IN passed away on Saturday June 22, 2019 at Wedgewood Manor Healthcare in Jeffersonville, IN. She was born on April 11, 1927 in Scott County, IN to Warder and Arilda Nichols. She was a former nursing assistant and a “Rosie The Rivereter” during World War II where she built airplane bearings. She was also a member of the Little York Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Sterling E. Thompson and Martin A. Schindler and a grandson, Bryan Morgan. Doris is survived by her sons, Sterling Thompson (Mary) of Charlestown, Ed Schindler (Theresa) of Charlestown and James Schindler (Maria) of Jeffersonville, IN; daughters, Sheila Campion of Charlestown and Julia Nason of Jeffersonville; grandchildren, Kevin Thompson of Charlestown, Eric Thompson (Samantha) pf Charlestown, Michael Schindler of Charlestown, Joseph Worthington of Louisville, KY, Starla Mason (Rick) of Charlestown, Melissa Russell of Charlestown and Stephen Morgan of Rushville, IN; 15 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Thursday June 27, 2019 at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial in Scottsburg Cemetery. Visitation will begin after 11 am on Thursday.
