David’s Obituary David was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 30, 1952 and lived his whole life in the City. He was a 1970 graduate of Holy Cross High School and afterward attended Allied Institute of Technology where he learned his lifelong craft of tool and die making. Dave lived to fish and camp. His passion led him from the waters of Lake Michigan to the walleye-rich lakes of Wisconsin on to the wilds of Alaska. Dave was into cooking, canning, and the Chicago Cubs. He loved to build and repair things, always curious as to how things worked. David was his own man, independent, intelligent, with an easy-going nature and ready smile. He will be forever missed by his family and friends. David is survived by his mother Alvina Callahan, sister Janice Long, brothers Dennis (Chris) Long, Michael (Mary Alice) Long, Michael Callahan, many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, George Long, step-father, James Callahan and sister-in-law, Sherman Callahan. Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday June 22nd at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home 7812 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Niles from 11:00 AM until the time of the memorial service at 1:00 PM.
