David L. Childs January 25, 1953 – June 13, 2019 Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card David L. Childs walked peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, June 13, 2019. He was born in Jackson, MI, on January 25, 1953, to Ralph Edwin and Dorothy Lee Pickrell Childs. He was a 1978 graduate of Clarks Summit University with a Bachelor’s of Religious Education and Theology. He served faithfully in ministry for 41 years in churches in Maryland and Pennsylvania, most recently at Park Gate Baptist Church in Ellwood City, PA. David joyfully served the Lord and so enjoyed sharing that joy with others. He was an avid joke teller, and his family is convinced he is already happily telling jokes to his new audience in heaven. He was married to his college sweetheart, Cindy Houk Childs, for 42 years. She survives at home. David is survived by his five children: Christina Childs, Emily(Scott) Toth, Bethany(Jake) Toth, Melody(Dan) Kniess, Caleb(Breanna) Childs. He is also survived by ten grandchildren. He is survived by four brothers and two sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Tim. The family will receive visitors Saturday, June 22 from 1-3pm at 2840 River Road, Ellwood City, PA with a memorial service at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials made be made to the missions fund at Park Gate Baptist Church.
