David Eugene Wilson September 23, 1948 – June 20, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card David Eugene Wilson 85 of 1427 3rd Street South west hickory, NC, began his heavenly journey on June 20, 2019. He was born on September 23, 1933 in Catawba County to the late Robert Lee Wilson SR and the late Ruth Harris Wilson. He was a graduate of Ridgeview High school Class of 1952 where he played for the Panthers football team. Shortly after, he joined the United states Air Force and fought in the Korean War. He also worked for General Electric Company for 25 years where he retired. He was a faithful member and founding member of Greater Faith Missionary Baptist Church where he performed many tasks, but he was most honored to be one the Deacons of the Church. He was a proud member of Victory Lodge #745 Free & Accepted Masons Prince Hall Affiliate, Pride of Hickory Chapter #519 Order of Eastern Stars, and he was a 32 degree Mason. He was preceded in death by two sisters Willie Rhea Wilson Smith and Mary Magdalene Wilson, five brothers, Robert Lee Wilson Jr, Nathaniel Wilson, L. Wilson, Robert Lee Wilson, and Joe Williams.. One grandson Charleston and great grandson Justice Freeman. He leaves to cherish loving memories his wife Alice Sanders Wilson of the home. Seven children Brenda (Bennie) Roberts of Hickory, NC, Charles Sanders of Hickory, NC, James (Kathleen) Sanders of Arizona, Louis (Paulette) Sanders of Gastonia, NC, Cheryl Yvonne Wilson of New Jersey, Donald Wilson of Hickory, NC and Patricia Wilson Of Hickory, NC. Three sisters, Ethel Mae Davis of Shelby, NC, Virginia Wilson and Bessie Sullivan both of Hickory, NC. Fourteen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, a host of nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends. The Funeral service will be held Saturday June 29, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Greater Faith Missionary Baptist Church 3147 12th Ave SE Hickory, NC 28602 with the Reverend Marcus Williams Sr, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park 3010 Highway 70 SE Hickory, NC 28602. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 pm-1:00 pm.
