Darlene Hauck July 17, 1931 – May 30, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook| View Guestbook Entries| Send Sympathy Card| Memorial Donation Darlene Mae Hauck, 87 of Lake Preston, SD died Thursday, May 30, 2019 at the Arlington Care and Rehabilitation Center in Arlington. Darlene Mae Lundquist was born on July 17, 1931 to Ernest and Myrtle (Anderson) Lundquist. The family lived in California for a short time before returning to the Erwin area. She attended school in Erwin and then in Lake Preston where she graduated in 1949. She worked at the Band Box Cleaners and at Van’s Drug store following high school. She married Robert D. Hauck, August 27, 1950. After living in Brookings, the couple returned to the Lake Preston area where they farmed for more than 55 years. Darlene worked at the Lake Preston School, Delbert’s Clover Farm and then at Chuck’s Grocery for more than 20 years. The couple moved into Lake Preston in 2008 and to Silver Plains Assisted Living in April of 2019. She was active in the church, serving with the Women’s Fellowhsip and teaching Sunday school and Bible school. She was also active in the American Legion Auxiliary, PTA and as a 4-H leader. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed many crafts as well as dancing, playing cards, bowling and attending her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. Her greatest joy was caring for her family and enjoying time with them. She is survived by her husband bob; two sons, Brad (special friend Joan Wollschlager) and Reed (Mary) Hauck; one daughter, Shelly (Dennis) Nelson; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Marlys Blinsmon of Watertown and one brother, Donald (Alice) Lundquist of Arizona; one sister-in-law, Gloria (Walter) Swenson of Rapid City, many nieces, nephewsand other extended family members. She is preceded in death by her parents, a son Gregory Hauck and one brother, Eldon Lundquist. Funeral services for Mrs. Hauck will be at 10:30 am on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at the Lake Preston United Church with Pastor Brad Sanderson officiating, burial will be in the Lake Preston Cemetery at Lake Preston, SD. Visitation will be one hour before services on Tuesday in the church. The Johnson-Henry Funeral Chapel of Lake Preston is in charge of arrangements.
