Koppenhaver, 86, of Harrisburg, passed away on June 27, 2019 in Country Meadows of Hershey. He was born December 12, 1932 in Hershey, to the late William E. and Ella A. Hartman Koppenhaver. Daniel was a 1950 graduate of Hershey High. Following high school Dan joined the United States Navy where he served aboard the USS Harry F Bauer. Following Dan’s service to his country he had a long career with Conrail. Over a 43-year period he worked his way to supervisor and eventually became Vice President of Materials before retiring. Dan had been a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and both Grantville and Linglestown VFW’s. He loved the “crew” of family and friends that made up the Potash Lodge in Lycoming County. He spent countless hours hunting deer in the Tiadaghton State Forest with his Winchester Model 71 and fishing for trout in Pleasant Steam and Lycoming Creek. Whether you knew him as Dan, Daniel or Danny you wanted to be his friend. He is survived by; daughter, Lona M. Hall and her husband Dan of Palmyra; his first wife, Alma of Superior, Nebraska; grandson, Daniel Koppenhaver of Palmyra; stepson, Robin of Hastings, Nebraska; brother, David L. Koppenhaver Sr. of Montoursville; sister, Ella “Doll” Miller of Hershey; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Eileen Marie Koppenhaver; and brothers, William D., Richard R., and Kenneth O. Koppenhaver. Graveside interment with military honors will be in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, on Friday, July 5, 2019 at 1:30PM. Guests attending should arrive at 1:15PM, follow signs for “Funerals”; parking to the rear of the Administrative building. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contributions be made to Grane Hospice, 1200 Camp Hill Bypass, Suite 205, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
