COURTNEY D. PENNELL Courtney Pennell, surrounded by family, passed away peacefully on June 22nd. Courtney was born in Youngstown, Ohio on June 23, 1925 as one of eight children parented by Howard and Mildred Pennell. He and his wife of 73 years, Vivian Pennell, resided in Lisbon, Coshocton and Zanesville, Ohio and later in Zephyrhills, Florida and finally in Indianapolis, Indiana. Courtney was a member of the Greatest Generation fighting for his Country in the Navy during World War II in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. The dedication of the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. and his participation in the Freedom Flight with other World War II veterans filled him with tremendous pride. Upon his discharge from the Navy, Courtney went to work for Columbia Gas of Ohio and diligently continued to do so for the next four decades until his retirement. Courtney also proudly served as a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. Courtney is survived by his wife, Vivian, daughter, Debra Denning of Greenwood, Indiana, son, Scott Pennell of Norwalk, Connecticut, four grandchildren, Katie, Matthew, Andrea and Drew, and three great-grandchildren, Elijah, Lila and Aiden. Courtney’s sister, Linda, resides in Radcliff, Kentucky. Funeral Services are Private. Condolences may be left at www.forestlawncemetery-fh.com
