Obituary Charlotte Elaine Veenstra, age 80, known by name to Christ her Savior, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 26, 2019. She was born to Rolf and Helen Veenstra in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Following her graduation from Calvin College, Char began a 40-year teaching career, including 21 years at the Christian Learning Center. In retirement she continued learning, taking classes on a variety of subjects and reading widely. She enjoyed listening to and performing choral music, taking photographs of nature and walking through Meijer Gardens, and spending time with family and with her many dear, lifelong friends. Char took delight in her nieces and nephews, never missing a birthday and always sending warm, witty cards. Char was preceded in death by her parents Helen Sweetman Veenstra, Rolf Veenstra, and Nella Rickers Veenstra. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister Sharon Visser (George); brothers Harry (Barb), Chris (Robin), Tim (Stephanie) Veenstra; dearly loved nephews and nieces Chris Vander Ark (Helena), Tony Vander Ark (Melissa), Jane Vander Meer (Jamie), Ryan (Kari), Reid (Karina), Adrienne, Arielle, Rolf, Levi, and Abby Veenstra; and 9 great nephews and nieces. We were favored by God to have shared her life. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 1, 12 Noon, at the Calvin College Chapel (1835 Knollcrest Circle SE). Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the Chapel from 10 AM until 12 Noon.
