Charles E Woods June 3 1931 June 11 2019

June 3 1931 June 11 2019
Charles E Woods, 88, of May, Texas, went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday June 11, 2019. Charles E. Woods of May, Texas was born June 3, 1931 in Winters, Texas. He passed from this world to his heavenly home on June 11, 2019. Charles was preceded in death by his father Robert Woods, mother Ruby Woods, and his sister Ruthelle Franklin. Charles is survived by his wife Barbara Woods, who he was happily married to for sixty eight years. He is also survived by a daughter, Susan Edwards, son Charles (Chuck) Woods and his wife Lindsey, of May, Texas. Charles also leaves six grandchildren, Julie Brown, Angela McCluskey, Rebeccca Henderson, Anna Woods, Emily Woods, and Charles (Chase) Woods, and five great grandchildren. Charles was a long time member of the May United Methodist Church. Charles was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for over thirty three years where he worked his way from a telephone installer to district supervisor. Charles retired from the phone company in 1984 and moved his family back to their home town of May. These things give you the facts of who Charles Woods was but not the person he was. Charles Woods was a soft spoken man that inspired his family, friends, and coworkers. Charles Woods learned his dedicated work ethic from his father who was a peanut farmer. Charles dreamed of farming as his career but chose to work for the phone company after marrying his high school sweetheart on October 6, 1950. Charles and Barbara met as children and Barbara still keeps a valentine that Charles gave to her in the first grade. Charles was a lifelong church member and Godly man. He served his community as a volunteer fireman in Rotan, Texas and for twenty seven years in May, Texas. Charles loved woodworking and served as a handyman to many in the May Community. He worked as a farm hand for several years and when asked by a member of the community he would lend a hand in any project where he could be of help. Charles was loved and respected by all that knew him. He was a true servant leader, a man that led by example and kneeled before the Lord. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the May Volunteer Fire Department or the May United Methodist Church.
