Celfa Elizabeth Russell, 67, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2019. She was born in Belize, Central America on April 12, 1952 to Jose “Papa Joe” Emilo Awe and Maria “Mama Mary” Esperanza (Castelanos) Awe. She married Gary Russell on December 26, 1990. They spent many memorable moments together. She loved embroidery and she had a green thumb like nobody’s business for plants. Celfa is preceded in death by her parents Jose and Maria Awe, and her sisters, Alice and Louisa. She is survived by her daughters, Theresa Hitchcock of Muskogee, OK and Elizabeth Cooter of Denver, CO; son Frank Hitchcock of Tahlequah, OK; grandchildren, Heather Goding of Muskogee, OK, Jeffrey Moydell of Del City, OK, Joseph Hitchcock, Katie Moydell of Tulsa, OK, Kyle Hitchcock of Tulsa, OK, Franklin Griffin of Vinita, OK, Frederick Griffin of Vinita, OK, William Hitchcock of Muskogee, OK, Emily Couter of Denver, CO; great-grandchild, Trenton Apple of Muskogee, OK; brothers and sisters Rahin, Yvette, Marie, Ahmed, Malaqui, Shelley. A celebration of Celfa’s life will be 1:30pm Monday, July 1, 2019 at Cornerstone Funeral Home with Theresa Hitchcock officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery with Frank Hitchcock, Ahmed Awe, Joseph Hitchcock, Kyle Hitchcock, Gabriel Awe, and Jeff Cantrell serving as Pallbearers.
