Bill’s Obituary Bill Compton, age 81, of Coon Rapids passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll surrounded by his family. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, April 5, 2019 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Coon Rapids with Fr. Steven Brodersen as Celebrant assisted by Deacon Louis Meiners. Lectors for the Mass will be Amy Rohe and Abby Langel. Gift bearers will be his daughters: Susan, Tricia, and Mary. Mass servers will be Easton and Parker Hayes. Casket bearers will be Joe Trecker, David Trecker, Kevin Langel, Scott Langel, Anna Langel,d Sara Astleford, LeAnn Hostetler, and Jerry Brandt. Honorary casket bearers will be Nathan Brandt, Amy Rohe, Adam Brandt, Jonathan Brandt, Tyler Brandt, and Abby Langel. Music for the Mass will be by the Annunciation Choir with Paige Huntley and Kevin Langel as organists and Carol Christensen as soloist. Burial will be in Union Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids after 5:00 P.M. on Thursday where there will be a Christian Wake Service at 6:30 P.M. followed by a Rosary. The casket will be moved to Annunciation Church at 10:00 A.M. on Friday where visitation will resume until 10:45 A.M. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhhouse.com Born on April 8, 1937 in Iowa City, IA, he was the son of Dorothy Heuton. Bill grew up in Coon Rapids and worked for Lappe Tree Service and Headlee Ford following his schooling. He was married to Mary Ann Berger on May 14, 1957 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Coon Rapids by Fr. Dourghty. Bill and Mary Ann were the second couple to be married in the new church. He began his career with Garst and Thomas Seed Company where he worked for 33 years retiring in 1997. In retirement Bill and Mary Ann were the care takers of Union Township Cemetery for 22 years. He also had many other jobs in retirement including tending to his yard which was his pride and joy. Bill enjoyed playing Euchre and Rummy, trips to the casino, going on vacations, and spending time with his family. Bill is survived by his wife Mary Ann of 62 years of Coon Rapids; his three daughters and their families: Susan Trecker (Joe) of Coon Rapids, Tricia Brandt (Jerry) of Manning, and Mary Langel of Ogden; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and one on the way!!; three sisters: Peggy Janssen (Virgil) of Glidden, Janet Sondgeroth of Carroll, and Cheryl Conroy of Carroll; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bill was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Heuton; his mother and father-in-law Joseph and Josephine Berger; his sister Helen Greene; and a great-granddaughter Shelby Astleford. Read More
