Betty J. Strike, 85 of Helenville, died on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Alden Estates of Jefferson. Betty was born on January 17, 1934 at home in Genesee Depot, WI, the daughter of Ernest and Hazel (Sayles) Loefer. She is a 1952 graduate of Palmyra High School and on July 21, 1956, she married Roger Strike at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church of Rome. Betty and Roger had 5 boys and the family worked together on the farm. Betty was not only the homemaker but worked alongside the boys and earned the title of Taskmaster. She enjoyed being outside by her garden and liked watching “Westerns” on television. She was an avid reader and loved doing needlepoint and other crafts. She was a great cook, loving mother and hardworking lady who will be missed. Betty is survived by: her son Glenn (Linda) of Helenville, Daniel (Rhonda) of Fort Atkinson, Roger (Cindy) of Sandwich, IL, and David (Kathy) of Helenville; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and brother Robert (Carol) Loefer of Eagle. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son John (2017), and grandson James Lee (1988). A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, June 7, 2019 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church of Rome/Sullivan with Rev. Mike Mannisto presiding. Visitation will be on Friday from 9:00AM until the time of service at the church. She will be buried at St. Luke’s Cemetery following the service.
