Betty Colavecchi (nee Hoaglund), 87, of Kingsford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at Freeman Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kingsford. She was born on March 23, 1932 in Homestead, WI, daughter of the late Herbert and Esther (Anderson) Hoaglund. She graduated from Kingsford High School in 1950. Betty moved to Milwaukee, WI and Chicago, IL and then settled in the Iron Mountain-Kingsford area, where she worked for many years for Dr. Alfred Miller in his dental practice. Upon marriage, she moved with her husband and family to the Way Dam Reservoir, where her husband Biaggio worked for Wisconsin Electric Power Company. Betty enjoyed the company of family and friends, entertaining, pets and animal causes and gardening. But her true passion was bowling, and it showed in the many awards and trophies she amassed over her lifetime. She appeared on the show “Strikes and Spares for Cash” and was inducted into the Tri-Area Bowling Hall of Fame by the Women’s International Bowling Congress in 2004. Betty is survived by her daughter, Tammy Colavecchi (Kevin McGeen) of Milwaukee; her stepson, Frank (Margaret) Colavecchi of Elsie, Michigan; a sister, Marion Hoaglund of Kingsford; a brother, Donald (Beverly) Hoaglund of Kingsford; four grandchildren, Chris Colavecchi, Kevin Colavecchi, Angela Mabie, and Tony Colavecchi; and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Biaggio Colavecchi, and stepson, Paul Colavecchi. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 24 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon at the funeral home. Rev. Ryan Flunker will officiate. Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.
