A legacy of love… Bessie Ann Dean, age 83, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, June 16, 2019 in Cottonwood Heights, Utah. Bessie was born in Salt Lake City on October 13, 1935 to Ralph and Bessie Lambert. She is the oldest of 5 children. She married her sweetheart, Gary L. Dean on January 18, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple. They recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Bessie, a faithful and strong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was a true angel on earth, always serving, sharing, and bringing joy to those around her. She was an accomplished children’s book author and illustrator, teaching through stories and adorable pictures, the gospel of Jesus Christ. Her books are still loved and cherished today all around the world. Although in constant pain from the effects of Lupus for over 50 years, she always had a smile for others, time to help a friend, and a laugh that could melt away a troubled heart. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Gary Lee Dean, and her children; Scott (Sheri) Dean, Bob (Kim) Dean, LeAnne (Lance) Farr, and Ken (Julie) Knobel. She was blessed with 33 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. All who brought her immense joy. Preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Bessie Lambert, 2 grandsons, and 2 great-grandchildren. She is having a sweet reunion with them now! A viewing will be held Friday evening, June 21st, from 6-8 pm at Cannon Mortuary (2460 Bengal Blvd.). The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 22nd, at 11:00 am at the Cottonwood Heights Stake Center (6890 Whitmore Way), with a viewing that morning from 10-11 am at that same Stake Center. Special thanks to Dr. Robert Payne, who tenderly cared for Bessie for over 50 years. Also, special thanks to ALL of the amazing caregivers from Inspiration Home Health and Hospice, who helped us through these last few months. Especially Caralee and Judy! Thank you, mom, for the legacy of love, faith, and family that you have left us. We will love you forever.
