Mrs. Bernice Wackerhagen Lockwood, 104, of Greensboro passed away Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Brighton Gardens of Greensboro. Bernice was born in Kansas City, MO., to the late Ralph H. Wackerhagen and Stella Smith Wackerhagen on October 17, 1914. She was a member of Brookstown United Methodist Church, and also a member of The Order of the White Shrine. Bernice worked as a receptionist and office assistant in Winston-Salem for many years for Dr. Ben Huntley and Dr. Ray Newsome. Along with her parents, Mrs. Lockwood was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, E.W. Lockwood; daughter Sandra L. Riggs; two brothers, Fred H. Wackerhagen and Bernard L. Wackerhagen. She is survived by a son, Donald W. Lockwood (Loraine); two granddaughters, Stephanie S. Riggs (John Markham) and Whitney L. McDaris; three great-grandchildren (Riggs Markham, Grayson McDaris, Tinsley McDaris), and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, June 17, 2019 at Forsyth Memorial Park with the Rev. Chip Webb officiating.
