Arlene Bernard June 28, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Arlene Bernard, age 91, of Grand Rapids, MN, passed away Friday, June 28, 2019 surrounded by loved ones. Arlene was born in 1927 to Martin and Eva Winberg in Little Falls, MN. She graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1946. On March 19, 1948, Arlene was united in marriage to Donald Bernard in Grand Rapids, MN. Arlene and Don have made their home in the Wendigo area since June 1948. She loved gardening, sewing, and square dancing. Arlene was a member of the Wendigo Variety Club, Wendigo China Club, Tasca Twirlers, Grand Rapids Womens Club, and was involved with a variety of activities at First Evangelical Lutheran Church. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Eleanor Ward; and brother, Dietrich Winberg. Arlene is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Donald L. Bernard; daughters, Carolyn (Len) Swanberg of Chetek, WI, Kathleen (Michael) Gunderson of Grand Rapids, MN; sons, Thomas Bernard and Douglas Bernard both of Grand Rapids, MN; sister-in-law, Mary Bernard of Grand Rapids, MN; brother-in-law, David (Leona) Bernard of Grand Rapids, MN; twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 2, 2019 from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM Funeral Service at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids, MN. Rev. William Zeige will officiate. Burial will be at the Harris Cemetery, Harris Township, Minnesota.
