Alice Louise Noe Simpson August 06, 1940 – June 21, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card ALICE LOUISE NOE SIMPSON Alice Louise Noe Simpson, of North Tazewell, VA, born August 6, 1940, was known as Granny to many who loved her and who always put a smile on her face. She was Mom to her four devoted sons and just Alice to other family and friends. Alice was 78 years old when on June 21, 2019, surrounded by family and loved ones, passed on to her eternal resting home. She had battled with congestive heart failure for many years. Alice was born in Kentucky where she spent her childhood years living with Della Mae Watkins Noe, whom she called Mama. When she was just 16, she married the love of her life, Homer Simpson. They began their married life in Chicago, IL, where three sons were born, then moved back to Buchanan County, VA, where another son was born. Homer and Alice then moved to Tazewell County, VA in 1977 and Alice has called Tazewell County, VA home for the past 42 years. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Earl Noe, who passed away on September 7, 1963 and Ethel Ward Brock who died April 12, 2006; her husband, 4 days shy of their 50th Wedding Anniversary, Homer Simpson, who departed this life on October 30, 2006 after a brief sickness with pancreatic cancer. Granny is survived by her four sons and their families. Her firstborn, Raymond Earl and Vickie of North Tazewell, VA, Robert Wayne and Gina of Keen Mountain, VA, Michael Homer and Carolyn of Kingsport, TN and Alan Martin and Alesia of North Tazewell, VA. Eight Grandchildren: Dr. Ellie and her husband, Josh Ragsdale of Solon, OH, Kara Viers and husband, Chris of Keen Mountain, VA, Dr. Hunter and wife, Dr. Sarah Simpson of Roanoke, VA, Ashley and Taylor Gearhart of North Tazewell, VA, Jacob Simpson and Randa of Baptist Valley, VA, Josiah, Thomas and Rachel Simpson all of Kingsport, TN. Seven great-grandchildren: Harvey and Oliver Ragsdale of Solon, OH, Aubree, Emmalyn and Adley Viers of Keen Mountain, VA, Liam Hunter Simpson of Roanoke, VA, Skylar Grey Simpson of Baptist Valley, VA. Granny loved to read her Bible, crochet and knit, cross stitch, paint and work in her garden. A service to celebrate Granny’s life will be held Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at Dudley Memorial Chapel at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Steve Aker and Rev Ray Amos officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens. Raymond Simpson, Robert Simpson, Michael Simpson, Alan Simpson, Hunter Simpson, Jacob Simpson, Josiah Simpson and Thomas Simpson will serve as pallbearers. The great-grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, June 24, 2019 at Dudley Memorial from 6-8 P.M.
