Richard Lee O’Connell, age 86, of Hanover Park, IL passed away Thursday, May 9th, 2019 at Hines VA Hospital in Hines, IL. He was born on July 13th, 1932 to Lorette (Koch) and Howard E. O’Connell. He was married to Janice Arlene Christner on April 8th, 1956 at St. Mary’s Church in Mt. Sterling. Richard served his country in the U. S. Navy from 1951 – 1955 in the Korean War. Survivors include his wife Janice O’Connell of Hanover Park, IL. His son Steve O’Connell of Sagel, ID and daughter Cheryl Juhas of Elk Grove Village, IL. He has 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Cremation was requested and a family celebration of life will be held on July 13th, 2019 at his daughter’s home. Instead of memorials please say a prayer. The Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling is assisting the family with local arrangements.
