Rev. John’s Obituary Rev. John R. McGary, 90, of Parkersburg, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Camden Clark Medical Center. He was born August 12, 1928, in Nutters Fort, WV, a son of the late John and Sylvia Stutler McGary. John served his country in the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, and the Army National Guard. He retired from Walker of Parkersburg as a Millwright. John was a former pastor at various churches and nursing homes. He loved being with his family, gardening and going for walks. He was a faithful member of the Gihon Tabernacle Church of South Parkersburg. He is survived by his children, Carlene (Jon) Cox, Tony (Jill) McGary, Tonya (Gary) Hill and Thresea (John) McCrady; grandchildren, Kelley (Jeff) Ray, Joe (Kathy) Hill, Stephanie (Kevin) Pierce, Eric (Susan) McGary, Jason (Melissa) McCrady, Matt (Katlyn) McGary, Vanessa McCrady, Natalie McGary and Samantha (Jason) Johnstone; great-grandchildren, Skylar, Brayden, Riley, Gabe, Jacob, Noah, Jameson, Jackson, Ella, Emmarie, Declan, Greyson, Zeke, Colby, Arletta, Maggie, Scarlett and Alcina; and two sisters, Marie Balderson and Wanda Modesitt. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Amilie W. Balderson McGary; four brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be held at 10 am. on Monday, June 3, 2019 at the Gihon Tabernacle Church at 1906 Gihon Rd. south Parkersburg with Pastor Jeff Williamson officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen North Cemetery with full military honors conducted by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm.
