James “Jim” Alley, 76, of Charlotte, NC, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 4, 2019. Jim was born in Huntersville, NC, on August 26, 1942, the son of Minnie Riley Hart and Otis Kidd Alley of Cornelius, NC. He served our country in the United States Army from 1962 to 1965. When he was discharged with honors, he went on to become an automotive manager and truck driver. He enjoyed many things in life, but most special to him was time spent with his family and friends. His favorite hobby was fishing, he was an avid pool player, and in his younger years, he tinkered with dirt track racing. He also enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves, Carolina Panthers, and boxing matches. He loved watching Saddle-Up Saturday with his great-grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, brother, sister, and son. Jim is survived by his wife, Kaethe Alley of 38 years, his three children, Brian (wife Amanda), Tracy (partner Steve Thomas), and Josh (wife Rae), as well as three grandchildren, Ashley Sample (husband Jason), Stefani Benton (husband Dustin), and Brett Alley (wife Kaylyn), and 6 great-grandchildren, Kinleigh, Aubrey, Addison, Kelcie, Braxton and Hunter. Family and friends are invited to a visitation Tuesday evening, May 7, 2019 from 6:00-8:00pm, as well as a memorial service to celebrate Jim’s life, Wednesday at 10:00am at Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, NC 28105. The memorial service will be followed by a private burial service for the family at Sunset Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Joel Osteen Ministries at joelosteen.com.
