Cheryl L. Stockman of Coal City, Illinois October 21, 1948 – April 30, 2019 Cheryl L. Stockman, age 70, of Coal City, IL. passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at Amita Health St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet. She was born October 21, 1948 in Patoka, IL. to Robert and Mildred (nee Beckler) Bumgardner. She married Ronald G. Stockman on December 30, 1972 at the Theodore Street Lutheran Church in Crest Hill. Cheryl worked for many years in customer service for several insurance agencies before retiring to become a full time grandmother. Cheryl had a passion for life! She enjoyed baking, making her “Corned Beef Feast”, and watching the Cooking Channel. She took pleasure in shopping, talking on the telephone and sitting on her back deck. She never met a stranger, a trait that her father and brother shared with her. She was known to many as “Grandma Cheryl”. In honor of her vibrant personality, the family would like visitors to consider wearing colorful clothing to her services. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Ron; her children Jodi (Shawn) Chapman of Coal City and Ronald (Stephanie) Stockman of Braceville; her grandchildren, Nathan, Ryan and Brooke Chapman and Morgan Stockman; her sisters Pamela (Tommy) Jaronski of Morris and Robin (Arlan) Hogan of Ft. Wayne, IN.; numerous nieces and nephews and many special friends that she considered to be her “sisters”. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Charles “Bum” Bumgardner. Memorials in Cheryl’s name may be directed to the Joliet Area Community Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, Il. 60431. Visitation will be Sunday, May 5, 2019 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Ferrari Funeral Services, 1044 Ferrari Drive, Coal City, IL. 60416. Funeral services will be Monday, May 6, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Ferrari Funeral Chapel with a one hour visitation prior to the funeral service. Pastor Greg Olsen will officiate.
