Mildred’s Obituary Mrs. Mildred Alice Lawson Shumpert, age 86, of Lumberton, passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at Woodhaven Nursing Center in Lumberton. She was born on October 11, 1932, in Robeson County to the late Grady Lawson and the late Ida Taylor Lawson. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by four brothers: Roney Lawson, Lemuel Lawson, Ertle Lawson, and Clint Lawson; three sisters: Ruth Davis, Dorothy Lloyd, and Delmar Smith; and two grandchildren, Shannon Shumpert and Chad Shumpert. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ralph Shumpert of the home; two sons, Larry Shumpert of Lumberton and Frank Shumpert (Marise) of Columbia, SC; two daughters: Faye Saliba (Sam) of Dallas, GA and Diedra Chance of the home; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Frank Lawson (Inez) of Port Richey, FL; and two sisters, Roxie Cordary of McConnelsville, OH and Marilyn Sealey of Orrum. The family will receive friends prior the service on Friday, February 15, 2019, from 1:00-2:30 PM at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Lumberton. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM. Burial will follow at Meadowbrook Cemetery in Lumberton.
