Granny Dot went to her Heavenly home on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at the age of 97. She was a native of Atlanta, Texas and resident of Amite, Louisiana. Granny Dot played dominos extremely well and always won every game. She was a hardworking and independent woman who truly had a heart of gold. Granny Dot adored her family and enjoyed spending as much time with them as she could. She was a wonderful woman who is already deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Granny Dot is survived by her daughter, Georgia Aden (Wendell); sister, Neva Dickerson (S.W.); grandchildren, Deborah Borel (Warren), Sandra Lelleck (Alan), Neda Watts (Maurice), April Assavedo (Roger), and Misty Betz(Jim); 10 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death are her parents, Claude and Winnie Jackson; grandson, Jerald L. Aden; brothers, Marlin Jackson, Monard Jackson, and Wayne Jackson, and her sister, Loretta Pruitt. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, Hammond, on Sunday, March 3, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. until the Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. A Graveside Service will be held at Smyrna Baptist Church Cemetery in Atlanta, Texas on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Dorothy “Granny Dot” McDaniel please visit our Sympathy Store.
