Obituary for Roy Henry Bockman Jr Roy H. Bockman, Jr., 68, of Grand Island, died January 10, 2019 at CHI – Health St. Francis. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 11 am, at All Faiths Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Tuesday evening from 5-7 pm. Roy was born on July 27, 1950 in Grand Island, to Roy Sr and Lucy (Miller) Bockman. He was raised and received his education in Grand Island, and graduated from Grand Island Northwest High School with the class of 1969. Roy’s first marriage was to Cathy Varley in 1970. He was united in marriage to Karen Szafrijda from 1975 until her passing in 2007. On March 20, 2015, Roy was married to Jean Brown. He worked for the Rainbow Bakery for 17 years before his employment with Mid Nebraska Disposal for 28 years. Roy was a Son of the Legioneers. In his spare time he enjoyed shooting pool, and spending as much time as possible with his grandkids. Those that will forever cherish his memory are his wife, Jean; children, David Bockman of Grand Island, Becky Bockman of Grand Island, Stephanie (Sabastian) Perez of Grand Island, Steven Bockman of Lincoln, Jason (Andrea) Bockman of Grand Island, Jeremy (Lisa) Bockman of Grand Island,Trisha Bockman of Columbus, Melissa (Brian) Lemburg of Grand Island, Carolyn (Orlando) Martinez; step-children, Stacy Wallace of Ravenna, Dawn McCurdy of Grand Island, Tony Richeal of Grand Island; brother, Wayne Bockman of Grand Island; sisters, Doris Perkins of Tuscon, AZ, Lucy Bockman of Lincoln; and his beloved 22 grandchildren. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Helen Bockman and Katherine Archer. A pot-luck style luncheon will follow the burial at the Grand Island Veteran’s Club, so please bring a side-dish with you. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
