He loved music and was known to pull out his harmonica to play his favorite patriotic and faith-based tunes for his grandchildren and other listeners. On his 75th birthday, he celebrated by singing with Bobby Vitton on stage. Last year on his 90th birthday, Robert was surrounded by family and friends who thanked him for his community service and valuable life lessons. It was a party for the books! His accomplishments include; served in 1959-63 as a Major on Gov. Powell’s Military Staff, served on the 1959 Hopkinton Dam Committee, received in 1981 Plymouth Rotary Citizen of the Year, 1986 was honored by the NH Senate for Outstanding Leadership, recipient of the 2016 Plymouth Area Community Closet Volunteer of the Year. “Bob Haskell Day”, declared on October 5, 2013 by the town of Plymouth, recognizes his formation and directing of the Royal Eagles Drum and Drill Corp in 1963-1986. Bob was a part of many memorable parades throughout New England, including the 1966 Memorial Day Parade, the 300th Anniversary Parade in Beverly, MA, 1969 World Cup Ski Race Ceremonies in Waterville Valley, President Nixon’s Inaugural Parade in 1973 in Washington D.C., and the 250th Anniversary of Plymouth parade in 2013. The Royal Eagles Drum and Drill Corp were very important to him and he was proud of each of his “kids” that went through the program. He loved dogs and spoiled Molly and Tauri. He believed everyone should have a dog! In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to The NH Humane Society or the Plymouth United Methodist Church.
