James “Jimmy” Chancy Sr., 80, a native of Michigan and resident of Chauvin, passed away on January 28, 2019. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. He is survived by his daughters, Melanie Fanguy and husband Timmy, and Nut “Isabelle” Henry and husband Joey; son, James Chancy Jr. and wife Dena; grandchildren, Toby, Robbie, D.J., Whitley, Chancy, Megan, and Kaitlyn; 10 great grandchildren; ex wife, Winnie Chancy; and brother, Kenneth Chancy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Isabelle Chancy. Jimmy was a hard worker who spent most of his life on the water as a boat captain and fisherman until retirement. He was a very simple man and lived a simple life. Samart Funeral Home of Houma, Bayou Blue is in charge of arrangements.
