Madeline M. (Martin) Edwards, 77, of Acushnet, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2019, at St. Luke’s Hospital, in New Bedford, after a period of declining health. She was the loving wife of 56 years to Frank E. Edwards, Jr. Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Manuel S. and Mary (Texeira) Martin, she grew up in Fairhaven where she was a 1959 graduate of Fairhaven High School and then settled in Acushnet where she lived for the past 51 years. Madeline had worked at Cameo Curtains years ago but left to raise her family. She loved to crochet, sew, cook and enjoyed sitting on her front porch in the summer time. She loved her family and most enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. is survived by her husband; a son, Michael F. Edwards and his fiancé Melissa Mazzarella of New Bedford; a brother, Robert J. Martin of Londonderry, NH; three grandchildren, Alisha, Joshua and Austin Edwards; two great grandchildren, Ava-Rae and Stefan Mendes and several nieces and nephews. Memorial calling hours will be held Friday, February 1, 2019, from 5-8pm, in the Fairhaven Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Fairhaven. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice, in Madeline’s name.
