Obituary of Billy Gilleland GILLELAND, Billy R, 90, went to be with our Lord and Savior Sept 8, 2018. Billy was born Dec 4, 1927 in Troy, Ohio. In 1945 he enlisted in the army, earning an honorable discharge in 1947. Billy went on to graduate from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio with a degree in accounting and become a CPA. He began his career in public accounting as an auditor at Arthur Anderson and, while on an assignment in Toronto, Canada, met the daughter, Jan, of his client, who would become the love of his life. Six weeks later, they would become engaged. Their first child was born in Toronto as Jan was finishing University, and two more would follow after they returned to the states. Leaving public accounting, Billy joined the corporate accounting world, working for GE and Allied Signal, and ended his career as VP of Finance for Albany Medical Center Hospital in Albany, NY. He retired in 1986, when he and Jan relocated to Florida. Billy was a devoted husband, loving father, and a man of integrity, wit and faith. He was also an avid saver and investor, and instilled sound financial principles in his offspring. He will be missed by all those who had the good fortune to know him. Preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Jan, Billy is survived by their three children, Brenda Lane Jensen (Lindsay), Bryan Gilleland (Graceann), and Bonnie Sullivan (Tim), five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
