Perna, 65, a lifelong resident of Princeton, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 in the home of his birth, after a long illness. A graduate of Princeton High School, Class of ’71, Tony drove a taxi in Princeton for years and was a communicant of St. Paul Church, Princeton. He was predeceased by his parents, Rocco and Filomena Ida (Nini) Perna, who settled in Princeton from Pettoranello, Italy and his sister Rosina Sferra. Surviving are a son, Justin A. Perna, of Latrobe, PA, a daughter and son-in-law, Melanie A. Perna Atiles and Michael, of Pittsburgh, PA, a grandson, Marco Atiles, five nieces; Rose, Jane, Maryann, Antoinette and Ida and his caregiver, Mathilda Sebastiampillai, who provided him with extraordinary care the past five years of his life. A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Paul Church, 214 Nassau Street, Princeton, NJ, on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at 11:00AM. A period of visitation, at church, will precede mass beginning at 10:45AM Burial will follow at Princeton Cemetery. Memorial contributions, in his memory, to St. Paul Church are appreciated.
