She was 93 years old. Margaret was born March 20, 1925 in Boise, Idaho to Chester and Fannie May Trask. As a young child she moved with her parents to Freewater and attended school at Ferndale and McLoughlin Union High School. At age 17, she married Emil Waliser, a local farmer and had 8 children. Together they grew fruit and vegetables on the family “truck farm”, selling these products in their fruit stands in LaGrande, Baker and locally in the Milton-Freewater area. Margaret had an obvious “nurturing” nature, raising 8 children, caring for Emil, taking in many adopted animals, and her many hours spent tending her commercial greenhouse. Margaret was very active in her Catholic faith and attended St. Francis of Assissi Catholic Church. She was a hard working mother and wife, working tirelessly for her family and farm. She had a cheerful outlook on life, enjoying the life of a wife, mother and friend to many. Never one to pass up on a card game or bingo with friends. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Emil in 1990. She is survived by her 8 children; Richard of Portland, Gary, David, Tim and Joan of Milton-Freewater, Tom of Walla Walla and Patty of LaGrande and Janet of Stafford, VA. She had 20 Grandchildren, 31 Great-Grandchildren and one Great-Great-Grandchild. Donations to honor the memory of Margaret can be made directly to St. Jude’s Hospital. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis of Assissi Catholic Church on Thursday January 31, 2019 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery in Walla Walla. Visitation will be from 5-8:00 PM on Wednesday at Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main, Milton-Freewater, Oregon 97862.
