Shirley A. Spudie December 4, 1933 – December 23, 2018 Shirley A. Spudie, 85, of Clinton and formerly of Whitesboro, passed away on Sunday, December 23, 2018 in her home, surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was born in Utica on December 4, 1933, a daughter of Elizabeth (Urtz) Hemmel and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. At Sacred Heart Church, Utica on May 1, 1954, she was united in marriage to Robert R. Spudie, a blessed union of 47 years until his death on December 22, 2001. Shirley was a member of St. Paul’s Church, Whitesboro. Shirley is survived by her children, Robert Spudie Jr. and wife, Annette, of Ohio, Barbara Spudie, of Clinton, Stephen Spudie and Michelle Roback, of Waterville, Mark Spudie and wife, Patricia, of FL and Paul Spudie and Erica Maine, of Rome; six grandchildren, Erika Wirebaugh and husband, Nathan, of MD, Alexa Villa-Chandler and husband, Isaiah, of OH, Chelsea Spudie, of GA, Mollie Spudie, of FL, Danielle Spudie, of Clinton and Nicholas Spudie, of Whitesboro and Patrick Riggles, who was like a son to Shirley. She is also survived by many cousins who were like sisters and brothers to her and many dear friends. Shirley was predeceased by a daughter, Deborah Spudie in 1996. Mrs. Spudie’s funeral will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 11:30 at St. Paul’s Church, Whitesboro. Burial will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Calling hours at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica are Friday from 4-7. Those so wishing may make donations to Hospice & Palliative Care or St. Paul’s Church in Shirley’s memory. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Eldredge, Dr. McKeever, Dr. Qandah, Fr. Abe Esper and Fr. David Sambor, for their care and compassion.
