Ellen Virginia “Honey” Troxell, 88, 10 East Broadway, Gettysburg, PA passed peacefully on Friday, December 21, 2018 surrounded by family at the Gettysburg Hospital. She was born February 21, 1930 in Yardville Heights, NJ the daughter of the late Randolph and Ann Totten and predeceased by her brother Randolph Totten Jr. Honey is survived by her husband of 68 years, William E. Troxell. Honey was a graduate from Hamilton High School in New Jersey and Lycoming College. She was employed… Read More » at Gettysburg College for thirty years as a library assistant retiring in 1993. She also served as Gettysburg’s first lady alongside her husband, then Mayor William E. Troxell. A role with which she took great pride in fulfilling. Following her retirement from the college, she enjoyed playing bridge with several clubs and entertaining her friends in their home. She also enjoyed golf and attending meetings of the Gettysburg Garden Club. In addition to her husband, Honey is survived by a daughter, Penny Ann Monforte and her husband Steve of Gettysburg, PA, a son, William E. Troxell, Jr. and his wife Tina of Orrtanna, PA, three grandchildren; Kristi Monforte Raffensperger, Melissa Miller, Travis Nathaniel Troxell, and a great granddaughter, Caton Elizabeth Raffensperger. The family will receive friends and family at the Monahan Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 from 6:00-8:00pm. A Memorial service will be held Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Lower Marsh Creek Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dale Williams officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Adams County Community Foundation, The Troxell Fund, 25 South Fourth Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
