Donald Thomas Benedict Sr 1937 2018

Obituary of Donald Benedict Sr Donald T. Benedict, Sr. of Post Creek, Beaver Dams passed away on December 20, 2018 at Elcor Nursing Facility. Don was born on November 29, 1937 in Corning to Carl E. and Pearl Stanton Benedict. He graduated from Northside High School in 1955 and served in the Navy for 4 1/2 years. On September 30, 1958 he and Sue Ann Smith were married at Grace Methodist Church in Corning. After his Navy service, Don was employed by Ingersoll Rand and Dresser Rand, retiring from Dresser Rand in 2000 after 45 years of service. After retiring from Dresser, he worked briefly for Hilliard Corporation in Elmira. As well as working full time at IR, for 13 years, from 1968 through 1981, he owned and operated the Beaver Valley Cable TV system, and from 1981 until 2015 he operated a small farming operation in Post Creek. He is survived by Sue, his wife of 60 years, two sons, Steven and Donald Jr., both of Corning, a brother Robert (Mary Lou) of Florida, his two grandsons, Donald III and Gregory both from Rochester, and step-granddaughter Jennifer (Joseph) Hines of Penn Yan and their children, as well as several nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by his two sisters, Joan Wheaton and Louise Mourhess and brother, Harold Benedict. As per his request, there are no calling hours or services. Any memorials may be donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital at www.stjude.org.
