Arden Arlene Shroyer 1937 2018

Obituary of Arden Shroyer Our beloved wife, mother and sister, Arden Arlene Shroyer, passed away in her State College home November 15, 2018. Born in Altoona, on September 14, 1937, she is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ronald Shroyer; daughter, Jill (Shroyer) Gleeson; and siblings Jackie Ayers and John Grohol. She was preceded in death by her son, Gunnar Shroyer, and her sister, Patricia Grohol. Widely beloved for her great humor and kindness, Arden was a travel agent at several local agencies, including her own, Professional Travel Service. But travel was more than Arden’s job, it was her passion. With her husband she was among the first travelers to visit the Brazilian Amazon and the Polynesian islands of Tahiti and Fiji, and counted Ireland and Egypt among her favorite destinations. A longtime supporter of women’s athletics, Arden also donated time and money to Penn State summer theatre and the Palmer Museum of Art. A celebration of Arden’s well-lived life will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, December 15, at her home, 1300 E. Park Hills Ave., in State College. Anyone who would like to share a story about Arden at that time will be very encouraged to do so. Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College.
