On the afternoon of Monday, October 1, 2018, while the sun was shining so bright, a sweet and gently voice whispered, “Take My Hand,” and God called Roderick Becote home. He lovingly released Roderick from the constraints of his earthly body, and God’s angels carried his spirit into his presence. There Roderick met his blessed Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ face to face, and joined his beloved father, Mr. Steve Becote, his dearly beloved mother, Mrs. Annie Ruth Singleton Becote and his brother, Mr. Russell Becote. Roderick Steve “Rod” Becote was the son, given by God, to the late Mr. Steve and Mrs. Annie Ruth Becote on November 8, 1962. He was given back to God on Monday, October 1, 2018, where he then entered into a richer and fuller life. “Rod,” as he was so affectionately called, was converted at an early age and joined Mount Tabor Baptist Church. He later joined Salem United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Men’s Choir. He was educated in the public schools of Florence County, and was a 1981 graduate of South Florence High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Rod was a man who loved his family, especially his nieces and nephews. He will be missed. His memory and legacy will live on in the lives of his family: his brother, Mr. Thurmond (Linda) Becote of the home; his sister-in-law, Mrs. Linda (late Russell) Becote of Pamplico, SC; two uncles, Mr. Andrew (Linda) Singleton of Florence, SC; and Mr. John Henry Becote of Effingham, SC; five aunts: Mrs. Starlean (Randy) Thompson, Ms. Romell Miller and Mrs. Alfreda (George) McLaughlin, all of Effingham, SC; Ms. Lillian Martin of Buffalo, NY; and Mrs. Gloria (John) McWhite of Shereveport, LA; five nepehws: Mr. Thurmond Becote, Jr., Mr. Shelton Ford and Mr. Zaire Farmer, all of Florence, SC; Mr. Tyrek Becote of Great Falls, MT; and Mr. Cameron Becote of Houston, TX; three nieces: Ms. Tieesha Becote and Mrs. Cadisha (Christopher) Thomas, both of Florence, SC; and Ms. Kelli Becote of Pamplico, SC; a special godmother, Mrs. Georgia Kelly; and a host of great nieces, great nephews, relatives and friends.
