Joy H. Thomas, 60, of Murray, died Monday morning, October 1st, 2018 at the Anna Owens Hospice House of Murray. Joy was an internationally known artist who specialized in commissioned portraits. Joy was also a teacher and mentor for many during her career. Joy was a member of the Murray Art Guild, a Kentucky Colonel, and a honorary member of the Australian Portrait Society. Joy is survived by her husband, Fred of Murray; one daughter, Rain (Phillip) Buchanan of San Diego, CA.; two sons, Warren (Kristen) Thomas of Louisville, and Mason Thomas of Murray; her mother, Kay Henderson of Campbellsville, KY; and five grandchildren, Bella Thomas, Cole Thomas, Roman Thomas, Thomas Rex Buchanan, and Tessa Thomas. She was preceded in death by her father, David Henderson. A Community Memorial service will be held at a later date.
