Florence “ Evelyn” Klages was born on May 30, 1940 to James Earl and Helen (Brazelton) Porter in Des Moines, Iowa. She passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2018 in Knoxville, Iowa at the age of 78 years. Evelyn grew up and attended school in the state of Minnesota as her family had relocated there from Iowa. In 1990, she was united in marriage to Donald Klages in Princeton, Missouri. The couple spent most of their married life in the Chariton/Lacona area, where they raised their family. Evelyn and Donald ran a home-based dog breeding business, which they both immensely enjoyed. Evelyn’s hobbies included making dolls, baking and cooking. She savored having friends and family to come over to her house for meals. Evelyn had a huge love for children as she took great care of her own kids and anybody else’s kids that needed looked after. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents James and Helen Porter; her husband, Donald Klages; her brother, Jim Porter; her grandson, Joshua Klages; her cousins, Deb Anderson and Brian Noble. She is survived by her son, Wayne Klages (Ruth Koch) of Lacona, Iowa; her grandsons, Colton Klages, Jaxon Koch, Westin Koch, and Justin Koch; her step-children, William Klages of Des Moines, Iowa, Wendy Mundy of Indianola, Iowa, Joseph Klages, and Kim Thorpe of West Des Moines, Iowa; her nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and dear friends. Memorials may be directed to the family in honor of Evelyn.
